Sister, Sister: William Opko


Quirky and comfy are two words that come to mind when you browse through the William Opko site as you get a sense of the sister’s styles. Their range of clothes look as if Tim Burton created a minimalist, high-fashion line hosted at had the ultimate after party.

Named after their father, the girls were heavily influenced by his suave sense of style, attention to detail and 70s vibe. As daughters of immigrant Nigerian parents, Lizzy and Darlene combine both perspectives— African elements with American 90’s hip-hop culture in their work. Beginning as a ready-to-wear clothing line in 2010, they were on a quest to bring some much needed color to the typical all-black wearing city of New York. Their unique style even caught the eye of Puma, collaborating with Ms. Solange Knowles on a pair of sneaks.

Creative af. A bit unconventional. And I’m obsessed.

It’s futuristic fashion with a colorful twist.
